"Our main goals are to teach the language
and culture of Poland and to learn about and to respect
other cultures, languages, races, and religions."

Our school counts almost 560 students and 22
teachers. We teach all grades from kindergarten to credit
courses for high school. The school was established in 1927
and now is one of the biggest Polish ethnic schools in the
whole world (to compare to the St. John School- where our
classes are held counts approximately 200 students). In
our Forest City there are several other ethnic schools such
as: Chinese, Hindu, German, Greek, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.

The Polish School in Canada is different than regular schools in Poland.
Children come to school every Saturday for only 2.5 hours (credit courses 3.5 hours).
For us as teachers it is a little but for youth it's a great effort. The students
represent different levels of knowledge of the Polish language. There are some who
never hear the language spoken at home and there are those who communicate with their
parents only in Polish. Our main goals are to teach the language and culture of Poland
and to learn about and to respect other cultures, languages, races, and religions. The
students of Staszic School should be able to expect a welcoming learning environment,
free from prejudice and racism and to relieve the linguistic, social, and cultural
disorientation faced by many students.
